2012 BC Inorganic Chemistry Discussion Weekend

 

The 2012 BC Inorganic Chemistry Weekend to be held in lovely Squamish BC at Quest University on May 11 – 13th, 2012 (Friday through Sunday).

 

We will have a welcoming mixer Friday evening followed by plenary lectures, student discussion groups, and a poster session (with prizes) on Saturday and Sunday.

The poster session will be held on Saturday afternoon.  All students and post-docs are strongly encouraged to present a poster – there will be several cash prizes up for grabs!  A standard poster board will be available for each poster.

Registration

The cost of registration is: $160 + HST = $179.20 (based on double occupancy), and includes:

  • Friday evening mixer
  • Saturday and Sunday breakfasts
  • Snacks and coffee breaks
  • Saturday banquet (if you require a vegetarian meal please let us know in advance)
  • Two nights’ accommodation
  • Payment can be made by cash or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Amex), but NOT personal cheque, upon arrival.  A receipt will be issued on-site.

 

Accommodations

The residences at Quest are available for your stay. A separate Quest residence will be provided for faculty.

  • Check-in from 5pm on Friday.
  • These are large 3 bedroom/ 2 full bath condominiums with bed and bathroom linens included. Each bedroom has two single beds.
  • Cost is based on double occupancy per bedroom, please organize into groups of six before arrival.
  • All units have a bar fridge, microwave, stove (no pots, cutlery provided), large living room/dining area, chairs, and balcony.
  • Accomodations:  once organized, please email mwolf@chem.ubc.ca with approximate numbers 
  • Conference dues (including room fees) will be collected on the Friday evening.
  • Residence parking is available at no charge.
  • Check-out 12pm Sunday.

**Warning**
Quiet hours (after 1am) are strictly enforced at Quest and a fine of $1000 will be levied if we are deemed negligent. We ask that attendees please be considerate of this request as we are visitors at Quest University.

Breakfasts: Breakfast is included both Saturday and Sunday Morning.
Lunches
:  Many options: 

  • Food is available on campus.
  • Numerous places in the shopping area just off the Highway in Garibaldi Highlands.
  • Extra Value Foods is located in Garibaldi Highlands.
